Weekly Overview/Homework 3/18-3/22

General Notes:

  • If you have not already done so please pay the student fee. You can pay online by clicking on the following link http://rayschool.weebly.com/.
  • School begins at promptly 8:45.  Please make sure students are arriving on time.  Students who are arriving late are missing significant Math time.
  • Tuesday evening’s PTo meeting will feature a Family Cooking night event.  Come out to see what’s cooking!

Here is an overview of what we will be doing this week in our CORE SUBJECTS:

Reader’s Workshop–This week, students will work in all five stations of The Daily Five:  Read To Self, Listen To Reading, Word Work, Guided Reading, Reader’s Response.  Please allow students to bring headphones or earbuds to school so they may listen on Epic Books.  Students will be required to write weekly Reader’s Response letters about their IR books as assessments.  In addition, students will take a reading quiz after they complete their IR book.

Annotation objective: This week, we will focus on annotating works of poetry.

Math-    This week students will estimate quotients of decimals and use estimates to place the decimal.  Lessons 6-11, 6-12, and 6-13 will be covered.  Students will have a Unit review on Thursday.  The Unit 6 test will be Friday.

Writer’s Workshop-This week in writing, students will polish up their “I Am’ poems and work on echo reading with a partner.  Students will present poems to class.

Q3 Focus:  Spelling     Spelling skills focus on compound words (one word, two words, and hyphenated words)

LIST:  baby-sit, first aid, flashlight, high school, goalkeeper, all right, airmail, one-way, bodyguard, something, good-bye, birthday, outside, everybody, anything, themselves, himself, butterfly, football.
