Weekly Overview September 19- 23

Hello Parents of Room 304!  Please remember that Wednesday is Ray School’s Curriculum night.  I look forward to meeting you.  In addition, we are asking for antibacterial wipe donations for the classroom.   Finally, please remember to pay the $85 Class fee!  We all are an integral part of keeping Ray School running.  Thank you!

ReadingWe will learn the remaining components of our Reader’s Workshop this week.   Students should choose books to read at home that are part of the Accelerated Reader program.  In addition, we will practice visualizing while we read,   using story structure to help us summarize what we have read.   Homework:  Students should be reading at home at least 30 minutes nightly.

Writing:   Students will be developing new writing pieces this week based on special objects they bring in.  They will develop a memoir based on the memories attached to the object.  Homework:  Students will have writing homework in their Writer’s journals on Monday and Wednesday this week.

Math:  We will continue to practice our multiplication facts daily.  Students will work on Factors, Divisibility, and Square numbers this week.  Homework:  Study Link 1.5, 1.6, 1.7  Checking Progress Quiz on Thursday.

Science:  We will begin our unit on Measuring Time some time this week.  Our first investigation will be an introduction on our first unit, Measuring Time.

Social Studies:  This week we will continue to take notes in our Social Studies notebooks. Students will read Lesson 3 (pages 22-29) and answer questions.  There will be a Vocabulary Quiz over Lesson 1 and 2 vocabulary on Thursday.

Reminder:  There will be no school for students on Friday, September 23.
