- We will attend a field trip on April 4 to see an IMAX film at the Museum of Science and Industry This film centers around engineering in the world. We will attach the learning to classroom learning in engineering challenges. This trip will cost $7. I do not have change in the classroom, so please try to send exact change.
Here are highlights for the week:
Reader’s Workshop: Make sure your child is reading 30-45 minutes nightly, otherwise it will be difficult for them to achieve this goal. ReadnQuiz goals will be graded on the percentage of points that they accrue towards their total point goal. Students earn points by taking reading quizzes after they finish any IR or GR book. This week, students will work on Daily 5 activities: Read To Self, Guided Reading, Listen To Reading, and Word Work. Students will also complete the Class novel, Wonder.
Writer’s Workshop: This week, students will complete revising their expository essay on their ecosystem. Students will revise and publish their essay. All essays are due Monday March 27.
Math: In Math, students will take the Unit 6 test on Monday. Then on Tuesday students will begin Unit 7 Lessons 7-1 to 7-3 will be covered. Students will take the last two math PARCC tests this week.
Science: This week, students will continue their unit of study, Ecosystems, with Ms. Pfeiffer. Students will create an ecosystem plate that models a display of the different parts of their ecosystem.
Social Studies: Students will finish work in Chapter 8. They will dissect the parts of the Declaration of Independence.

|Rewrite the last chapter you read in your IR book from another character’s P.O.V. (like the author does in WONDER) 2-3 paragraphs.||Sketch To Stretch- Sketch an important part in the story you are reading. Then, explain what is happening in the sketch and why it is important to the story. 3-5 sentences||Draw a cartoon strip that illustrates an important part of the book you are reading. Include at least 4 frames, provide captions and speech bubbles and color it.|
|Make a prediction about what you think will happen next in your IR book. Provide evidence from the story that helped you make your prediction. (3-5 sentences)||Create a Crossword Puzzle that includes the names of important characters, places and events in the book you are reading. Then solve it!||Lift a Line- Select a sentence or two from the story you are reading. Then, write down your own thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the sentences. 3-5 sentences|
