This week students will be taking PARCC tests every afternoon from 1:30-3:30. Therefore, homework will be extra light with NO TIC TAC TOE this week. Students should keep a Reading Log to record their reading for the week.
Reader’s Workshop: Students should be working to meet their ReadnQuiz goals. I sent home a detail of their progress, along with their point goal with Progress Reports. Make sure your child is reading 30-45 minutes nightly, otherwise it will be difficult for them to achieve this goal. ReadnQuiz goals will be graded on the percentage of points that they accrue towards their total point goal. Students earn points by taking reading quizzes after they finish any IR or GR book. This week, students will work on Daily 5 activities: Read To Self, Guided Reading, Listen To Reading, and Word Work. Students will also complete work in the class novel, Maniac Magee
Writer’s Workshop: This week, students will continue work on their next essay format: Expository. Students will revise their expository ecosystem drafts.
Math: In Math, students will complete work in Chapter 6. Students will practice dividing decimals this week.
Science: This week, students will continue work in their new unit of study: Ecosystems, with Ms. Pfeiffer.
Social Studies: Students will continue work in Chapter 8. They will discover the taxes that Britain had placed on the colonists and how they led to events like the Boston Tea Party.
