Reader’s Workshop: Make sure your child is reading 30-45 minutes nightly, otherwise it will be difficult for them to achieve this goal. ReadnQuiz goals will be graded on the percentage of points that they accrue towards their total point goal. Students earn points by taking reading quizzes after they finish any IR or GR book. This week, students will work on Daily 5 activities: Read To Self, Guided Reading, Listen To Reading, and Word Work. Students will also complete work in the class novel, Maniac Magee
Writer’s Workshop: This week, students will begin work on their next essay format: Expository. Students will complete research on an ecosystem and draft an informative essay about it.
Math: In Math, students will continue work in Chapter 6. Students will work with concepts of volume, estimating decimal products and quotients, and multiplying decimals.. Lessons 6.6-6.10 will be covered.
Science: This week, students will continue work in their new unit of study: Ecosystems, with Ms. Pfeiffer.
Social Studies: Students will continue work in Chapter 8. They will discover the taxes that Britain had placed on the colonists and how they led to events like the Boston Massacre.

Then, use text evidence to support/explain your word choice (5-7 sentences)||Sketch To Stretch- Sketch an important part in the story you are reading. Then, explain what is happening in the sketch and why it is important to the story. (4-6 sentences)||Draw a cartoon strip that illustrates an important part of the book you are reading. Include at least 4 frames, provide captions and speech bubbles and color it.|
|Make a prediction about what you think will happen next in your IR book. Provide text evidence from the story that helped you make your prediction. (4-6 sentences)||Create a Word Puzzle of your choice that includes the names of important characters, places and events in the book you are reading. Then solve it!||Lift a Line- Select a sentence or two from the story you are reading. Then, write down your own thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the sentences. (4-7 sentences)|

Include reasons why they would enjoy the book, citing specific details from the story.||What “gift” would you give/make your main character in the book you are reading? Then, combine them together to create a short poem/song/rap.|
