We need pencils badly. We share pencils in the classroom, and we have none left in our inventory. If you are out and could pick up a pack for the classroom, it would be much appreciated.
Reader’s Workshop: Reading GOAL- Students are working to meet their Reading Goal for Q2. This goal will be graded on the percentage of points that they accrue towards their total point goal. Students earn points by taking reading quizzes after they finish any IR or GR book. Please make sure that your child is reading a minimum of 30 minutes nightly from their IR book so that they may meet their goal. This week, students will work on Daily 5 activities: Read To Self, Guided Reading, Listen To Reading, and Word Work. Students will also complete work in the Class novel, Wonder.
Writer’s Workshop/Science: This week, students will complete their research on a planet. Then, they will work in small groups to make persuasive Google Slide presentations to convince others to move to their planet. This will conclude our persuasive writing for Q2.
Math: In Math, students will begin Unit 5, Fractions. This week’s lessons will emphasize adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Students will take a Checking Progress quiz Friday.
Science: This week, student will learn how to prepare different types of slides. Students will learn how to make wet-mount slides and well slides, observe specimens under the microscope, and sketch each specimen with accuracy.
Social Studies: Students will study the first group of 13 colonies: New England. Students will determine what sets them apart from other colonies by organizing information in a chart.
