Reader’s Workshop: Reading GOAL- Students are working to meet their Reading Goal for Q2. This goal will be graded on the percentage of points that they accrue towards their total point goal. Students earn points by taking reading quizzes after they finish any IR or GR book. Please make sure that your child is reading a minimum of 30 minutes nightly from their IR book so that they may meet their goal. This week, students will work on Daily 5 activities: Read To Self, Guided Reading, Listen To Reading, and Word Work. Students will also complete work in the Class novel, Wonder.
Writer’s Workshop/Science: This week students will begin work on their last persuasive writing piece in Q2. They will put themselves in the position of a realtor, and they will be challenged to sell their planet to their classmates as an ideal place to live. This week, students will research an assigned planet, using guiding questions to field their research. This research will ultimately be the material that they will use for an informational/persuasive brochure/handout.
Math: In Math, students will complete lessons 4-10 through 4-13, emphasizing using coordinates on a grid and adding and subtracting decimals.
Science: This week, student will use microscopes to compare/contrast paper samples.
Social Studies: Students will learn about the Pilgrims and their reasons for settling in the New World.
