Overview And Homework Chart 5/19-5/23

Last Week’s testing put us a little behind schedule in Writing and Math.  This week we will catch up in these subject areas so that we can finish the school year strong.

Reading- Besides our weekly work in Reader’s Workshop, students will finish reading a non-fiction narrative about the Boston marathon bombing.  They will answer close-reading questions, drawing details from the text and look for central ideas in the text.  Students will also meet in their Guided Reading groups this week and complete reading skills/strategies.

Writing- Students will complete bookbinds for the April Poetry unit.  Then, students will begin prewriting for fiction narratives.  We will then identify story elements in class, and students will identify the story elements in the IR books.

Math- This week we will continue Unit 12:  Probability.  Students will work on lessons 12.4-12.6

Our final field trip to the SmART Museum is this Wednesday, May 21.  We need  1-2 chaperones to help us on this trip.  If you have any interest please contact me.

Please check out our  blogs.  Each student has a blog of their very own, and students have written narratives based on selected paintings from the Smart Museum’s collection.  The link is http://kidblog.org/agkrecik/
