Overview and Homework 5/5-5/9

This week we test for NWEA MAP tests on Wednesday and Thursday (Reading Only).  Please see to it that your child is at school.  Also, progress reports will be sent home Wednesday.

Reading- Besides our weekly work in Reader’s Workshop, students will read a fiction narrative and answer close-reading questions, drawing details from the text and making inferences.  Students will also meet in their Guided Reading groups this week and complete reading skills/strategies.

Writing- Students will write a self-reflection and bookbind for the April Poetry unit.  Then, students will begin prewriting for fiction narratives:  Students will practice Stop, Look, and Write

1.  Select an image

2.  Write the story that goes with the image

3.  Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end.

Math- This week we will take the Unit 11 test on tuesday.  Then we will begin Unit 12:  Probability.  We will cover 12.1 and 12.2 this week.

Our next field trip to the SmART Museum is thisWednesday, May 7.  We still need  1-2 chaperones to help us on this trip.  If you have any interest please contact me.
