Reading- Besides our weekly work in Reader’s Workshop, students will finish reading a non-fiction narrative about the use of earbuds and hearing loss. They will answer close-reading questions, drawing details from the text and look for central ideas in the text.  Students will also meet in their Guided Reading groups this week and complete reading skills/strategies.

Writing- Students  will begin prewriting for fiction narratives.  We will then identify story elements in class, and students will identify the story elements in their IR books.

Math- This week we will continue Unit 12:  Probability.  Students will work on lessons 12.6-12.9.  The nit 12 test is scheduled for next Monday, June 2.

Last Week’s testing put us a little behind schedule in Writing and Math.  This week we will catch up in these subject areas so that we can finish the school year strong.

Reading- Besides our weekly work in Reader’s Workshop, students will finish reading a non-fiction narrative about the Boston marathon bombing.  They will answer close-reading questions, drawing details from the text and look for central ideas in the text.  Students will also meet in their Guided Reading groups this week and complete reading skills/strategies.

Writing- Students will complete bookbinds for the April Poetry unit.  Then, students will begin prewriting for fiction narratives.  We will then identify story elements in class, and students will identify the story elements in the IR books.

Math- This week we will continue Unit 12:  Probability.  Students will work on lessons 12.4-12.6

Our final field trip to the SmART Museum is this Wednesday, May 21.  We need  1-2 chaperones to help us on this trip.  If you have any interest please contact me.

This week we test for NWEA MAP tests on Thursday and Friday (Math Only).  Please see to it that your child is at school.  Also, progress reports have still not been presented to me.  I will update the send-home date when I have them to pass out.

Progress reports were not sent home today.  They will be delivered on Friday, May 9, instead.  Sorry for the confusion.

Writing- Students will write a self-reflection and bookbind for the April Poetry unit.  Then, students will begin prewriting for fiction narratives:  Students will practice Stop, Look, and Write

2.  Write the story that goes with the image

3.  Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end.

Math- This week we will take the Unit 11 test on tuesday.  Then we will begin Unit 12:  Probability.  We will cover 12.1 and 12.2 this week.
